AutoFile

Mobile app · Android

Scan. Share. Filed.

Your documents pile up under names nobody ever rereads. AutoFile gives them a name that makes sense and files them in the right folder of your Google Drive. You share, you check, you confirm.

How it works

  1. Scan a document with whatever scanning app you already use.
  2. Tap Share, then choose AutoFile.
  3. Check the proposed name and destination folder.
  4. Tap Save.

To file a document, that's all: two things to look at, one button.

Prefer to start in the app? Import a document or a ZIP archive from your phone or your Drive.

It learns where your documents go

AutoFile doesn't guess at your Drive. You show it the folders where you file things — once each — and it remembers. Every time you correct a proposal, it takes note: file two electricity bills in the same place, and it stops asking.

It only sees what you show it

On your Drive, AutoFile asks for a single permission: access to the files it has created itself and to the folders you show it. To sign you in, Google also gives it your email address.

In practice, AutoFile cannot browse your Drive, list your files, or open a document it hasn't put there itself or that you haven't explicitly handed to it.

This is a design choice, not an oversight. Permissions that would let it read your whole Drive exist; we don't request them. The document goes straight from your phone to your Drive. To find the name and folder, AutoFile only sends the text it has read — and, when there is no text to read, the image of the first page alone. Never the following pages, never the file. It asks you first, and you can say no.

The full detail is written in the privacy policy: what leaves the device, what never does, and how long each thing is kept.

Before filing: the toolbox

A statement that arrived as three PDFs, a receipt as four photos: the app's Tools tab prepares the file before you file it.

Files are chosen on the phone, from within the app: a tool does not open from another app's share menu. No Google account is needed to use them. You can file the result in Drive — name and folder proposed, for you to confirm, as with a shared document; AutoFile asks you to sign in if you have not already — or save it or send it elsewhere: through the phone's share sheet, as a ZIP archive, or the images one by one.

Free and Premium

Free

10 documents given, once. After that, a short advertising video adds 1, up to 3 videos a day — you request it, it's never forced on you. All filing features, in a single profile.

The tools, without a subscription: one ad break watched in full per use, two from 10 pages up. No ad break watched to the end, no result. These ad breaks top up no documents and do not count towards the 3 videos a day. Filing the result in Drive costs one document; for images made from a PDF, one document per image filed.

Premium

Monthly subscription at €3.99: no advertising at all — tools included — up to 50 documents a day and 500 a calendar month.

Annual subscription at €29.99: no advertising at all, up to 100 documents a day and 1,000 a calendar month. Opening an archive: included up to what is left of your day.

Lifetime access at €49.99, a one-off payment, valid for as long as AutoFile is offered: the same rights as the annual subscription, with caps that will not go down.

The caps reset every day and on the 1st of each month. Beyond them, the documents you have bought take over.

With a subscription or lifetime access, separate profiles — personal, work, family —: each has its own folder memory and can file into its own Google Drive account. Up to five profiles; without a subscription or lifetime access, only one stays usable.

Purchased documents

When your balance is zero, a pack of 20 documents at €4.99, bought once.

Bulk Filing: the price of filing one given archive, worked out from what your balance and what is left of your day do not cover, and paid once — from €1.99.

Prices in France, tax included, shown in the store at the time of purchase. How the price is worked out is set out in the terms of use.
